A Mixed Bag

Last weekend I had a wonderful time.

First [ Friday ] caught up with a young friend who I’ve seen but not had chance to speak with for ages. She really blessed me with how she’s maturing and her career and faith decisions. It was worth the huge cost of a MegaHotChoc’n'Mallow just to see the animation & expectation on her face. Oh Bless!

Then on Saturday I caught with an old CoG buddy not seen for ages, and we talked and talked and laughed and laughed. Just like old times. Oh those crazy days!

Saturday night saw me heading off for some curry with my lovely niece, Lisa. We went to the Taj Mahal in Elgin and it was blast! The food was excellent and almost [ but not quite ] overshadowed the time we had together catching up on so much goss! We also spotted a couple who we know who’d sneaked in for a romantic V-day meal…Ha harr – we blew that one out of the water.

Sunday saw me catching up with an ancient old christian friend in Asda’s cafe. I’ve been going there and praying and watching for divine appointments and opportunities to be amongst people.  So it was good to have time sharing with my pal.

Monday I sold Bertha the Audi and am now waiting to search for the next vehicle which will cope with my parents, my hip and my daughter’s rough track driveway! No prizes for guessing what I’ll be buying….

Tuesday was Jasciah. It is always a lovely thing to see real body ministry in action. I love it when the Lord draws together the right people at the right time and place to see Him in action! Mmmm! More I cannot tell but He is so good to us!

Just discovered a new blog that has scientists discussing real-time climate data as it occurs. Global Warming? Pah! Anthropogenic Climate Change? Double Pah! Man influencing major climatic and geophysical systems? Triple Pah!

It’s all a political con to divide by fear and rule by taxation.

Now? It’s time for sphag bol …….

Could it be …. my worship?

Could it be …..

So I spent a wonderful time with my daughter. It was so lovely to see her pleasure in her home, the enjoyment of her pets, the eager expectation as she waited for her husband to return from offshore later that week. It was lovely to hear her share her hopes and plans for their future, share their joys as they participate in the life of their fellowship. I was so warmed in my inner man with the richness of fatherhood.
Could it be that this is what it is like for you Lord as we explore our salvation?

Then the drive home on a clear, moonlit, winter night, the car humming with efficiency and fluidity of control; through bends, over hills and crests, swooping down dips. My love of cars and engineering would normally cause me to drive home as fast as I could but tonight I want to savour these moments. I’m melded and moulded with the creature. I seem to be so at one with the design of this thing that transports me from A to B, from calm to excitement. The thrill is being part of the fulfilment of it’s design. Vorsprung durch technik.
Could it be that this is what it is like for You Lord when we find our fulfilment in Your plan for our life?

The stars were so brilliant -  twinkling while fixed in the rotation of their courses. I really should have stopped and looked instead of craning my neck this way and that just to see all I could. The moonlight and starlight lit the hills, fields and woods with that pristine light that shows so much and promises even more with the coming of the new day. It was glorious and caused me to sing with exultation at being privileged to be in the creation that shouts of your glory between earth and the heavens. Your magnificence is shared with us in ways that we so often take for granted -  but nonetheless, we were created to glorify You and You delight in Your glory.
Could it be that this is what it feels like for You as You see the works of Your hands as they delight in Your handiwork, Your glories?

Then home. That place of rest and peace. The household that You have made by Your love and Your grace as You have carried us through so many troubles and shared in so many joys. The smile on her face, the warmth in her eyes, the strength of that hug that welcomes with love and speaks of  Your intention for those who diligently seek You. We vary in our moods and our relating but the love You have given seems fixed.
Home  -  where I belong.
Could it be that this is what it feels like for You Lord when we love You first as You have loved us?

Could it be Lord that in the flow of our life, You speak volumes in our ears, reveal cascades to our eyes and impart Life with each breath -  just so that we can know a little of what it is to be You.
I bless You Lord for the life that You’ve given me and the life that You are, and for sharing so much of Yourself with me.
Love
Dave
