Something old, something(s) new and ……… something older!

23 04 2007

I haven’t been able to blog due to tiscali problems leaving me without access when I was ready to type. Hopefully that is fixed now but at the moment I’m still short of time.

Thanx to all those who’ve been quoting me, linking with me etc. I continue to check up on my favourites and some new bloggers daily. I’ll be adding a couple to my blogroll shortly.

Louise and I are continuing to enjoy the freedom conferred by sabbing and I’m now deep into two books. One remains the ‘Stones’ [ see previous posts for link ] but also Watchman Nee’s MOST excellent “The Normal Christian Church Life”. If you’re in leadership and you want to get a radical, biblical, refreshing look at church – this one’s great. I know some of you slicker guys who get through a new book every 12 hours will have read it, but for us slower types, it’s a discovery! In combination with Ulf Ekman’s * “Church of the Living God” which I read ages ago [ said he moving his head from side to side in that pompous and superior way that just shows you that I'm ahead of the game!] there’s much food for thought.

So – what have I been doing so much of during the past ten days and beyond?

Travelling to and from Aberdeen to see the Kids,

visit with them at their churches,

helped decorate [ badly & over a short time period ] a flat,

played with dogs and lizards [ these being the pets of Mim & John, Fran & Peter respectively ],

plus lots of gardening, a bit of decorating [ as we de-shrine the house by doing up the girl's bedrooms ] and

walking and chatting,

attending the campus study period for my Independent Pharmacist Prescriber conversion course,

plus visiting the church of a good friend of mine. And it’s really interesting that [ for me] since I’m seeking so much at this time – despite what you might think having read this far – that whenever I’m with fellowships, my prophetic senses are almost hard wired and I’m filled with so many impressions and words and images. Wonderful!

….and loads more. Almost every event above I have wanted to post about, but – you know how it gets!

PtchaH!

The Sandman’s just come and told me I’ve got to go to bed.

*It is not true that Ulf and I were separated at birth, we both just seem to share the same features except I got the ptosis of the right eye!

I’ve been really ……. distracted.

I’ll be posting soon though. Please don’t think I’m off the planet or something.

Coming soon … an update :::: Immediately!;-)

Yeah – I know – I should blog more often, but right now I’m playing catch up.

Been on conference / holiday in Sheffield with the Mem Sahib. We’re using some of our sabbbotime to investigate, enquire, experience new fresh things. So we went to a conference held at St Thom’s where the speakers were Rolland & Heidi Baker, who head up Iris Ministries.

Now – the praise band were excellent, the speakers were interesting but intriguing. My only real problem was that I investigated the Toronto Blessing way back in ‘94. I’m no closer to going for it now than I was then. But I remain open to whatever the Lord leads me to. Suffice it to say that although the music and the message blessed me, the Torontic expression of some of the attendees [ to me ] seemed both selfish and a major distraction from what the Holy Spirit was trying to bring to those who were there. This was compounded when two ladies who were under some influence or other, fell on my head whilst I was moved to worship on my knees, and continued to wriggle and jerk on the floor next to me whilst I rubbed my carpet burns. Those of you who know me well will understand that a) the praise must have been moving to get me to my knees in public and b) those ladies [ Bless 'em ] came awfully close to receiving a bit of 5-Fold ministry.

Bewildering, bemusing but benign.

Questions :

If the Lord is touching people sohhhhh deeply, why can they not make room at later ministry times [ at other sessions ] for others who may have been touched by Holy Spirit instead of colonising the front area, sitting on the carpet having some ’spiritual’ jollies at the behest of the speaker? This would at least enable others who may be shy, to come close to the undoubted annointing [ I  mean this too...] of the speaker.

Is there any study out there, or a visitor who could let me know what all this feels like? Is it beyond control and by some other influence is one jerked about or prompted to shout, moan, cry, twitch etc? Please place a comment – they’re all anonymous unless you choose otherwise.

As a footnote, I don’t have a problem with being influenced to the point of abandon by Holy Spirit, but I do wonder how long these effects last. Do they happen spontaneously in public places, at work, during the sleeping hours ? What fruit does it have in the lives of those affected? Are they living for the touch or touched by living in Him?

Help!!!!

The last week has been spent repairing the winter’s damage to the garden and catching up with my girlies. Hung up my birthday present of a bird feeder called “The Guardian” on one of my Rowan trees, see forthcoming page Chickenfeed, wore my two new birthday ties [on different days ], plus the usual round of work, work, work…..and shouting at the TV or Radio about the oppressive government that we suffer under.

I am sick and tired of being taxed in every way possible by the uber-Chancellor using the scientifically unsafe fantasy of Catastrophic Climate Change as a thinly veiled excuse at more Highway Robbery. Drivers Unite!! It makes “1 Peter 2:13 & 14 -  Then be in obedience to every ordinance of men, because of the Lord, whether to a king as supreme, or to governors as sent by Him for vengeance on evildoers, but for praise on well-doers. ” a real difficult thing to do in sincerity rather than a gritted teeth experience.

Below is the face of Jesus as sculpted by my friend Pauline Beck. She has been working on a Celtic Cross for a couple of years and this part belongs on the front panel. A lovely piece of work and quite, quite inspired. Pastors : contact me for more details / photos.
